Diving Cayman Islands just got better with a new 1945 vintage submarine rescue ship!

Diving in the Cayman Islands has always been fantastic, but earlier this month it became even better!  The Cayman Islands’ were able to acquisition a decommissioned navel vessel called the USS Kittiwake and intentionally sunk it right off the Grand Cayman’s Seven Mile Beach. The ship is a 1945 vintage submarine, is 251 feet long and weights 2,200 tons.  It was sunk at 62 feet which makes it accessible to divers of all levels as well as snorkelers.

Hotels with Guaranteed Adjoining rooms for Families are Tough to Find but here are some Options!

When you are traveling with a family of 5 or 6 people or maybe you just want to be able to have some privacy at bedtime, there are not many hotels that will guarantee adjoining rooms for you.  Recently, I had a family of 4 who desperately wanted guaranteed adjoining rooms and after much searching we finally found two great options in the Cancun and Riviera Maya area -  cheap flights are currently on sale from all over the globe for this great location!

Palace Resorts has 3 hotels in the Cancun / Riviera Maya area that offer “Family Deluxe Rooms”.  These are two rooms connected by a Jack and Jill bathroom.  The Kid’s Room is two double beds decorated for children and amenities especially for them to make it even better !  The parent’s room has a nice king size bed with a balcony.

Palace Resorts caters to families by having amenities in Family Deluxe Rooms that will give parents a break when needed. They include: Xbox 360, DVD player, mini bar that includes kids’ snacks such as juice, water and kid-friendly snacks.

BareDiver enjoyed the Grand Opening of the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Dominican Republic

On behalf of my self and BareDiver International, I would like to thank Palace Resorts and the staff at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino for a fantastic week.  We were honored to be invited and be able to attend the Grand Opening of the first ever, All-Inclusive Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.  It was amazing and we cannot wait to return!  Nothing compares to the knowledge of  experience when it comes to being able to truly understand something – especially when it comes to the travel industry.  Hard Rock pulled out all the stops with informative tours of the property, tours of the300+ pieces of Rock Memorabilia (like Madonna’s car pictured below), and the grand events.

As is tradition, for the grand opening of any Hard Rock, guitars were smashed at the grand finale.  I have been told that pieces of these guitars will be used to make a portrait of a rock star  -  I cannot wait to see it!

I truly enjoyed the bands they had preform each night:  Blue Oyster Cult, Revolver, and Marteo Venus, but I was truly awed by the Gipsy Kings as they brought back many memories from my youth as I backpacked through Mexico, Central America, and South America.  I guess I’m sharing my age, but they were fantastic!

We were busy with meeting, tours and grand events, but there was time to:

Make new friends!

Play in the ocean!

Play in the casino (no, I didn’t win but I had fun!).

And sit by one of the many pools and enjoy the fabulous weather!
